What's included

LCG-Lawyer-Quote-Toolkit.xlsxExcel workbook (8 tabs)Start Here, Compare Quotes, Fee Agreement Check, Bill Tracker, Consult Questions, plus 3 filled example tabs
LCG-Lawyer-Quote-Toolkit-Worksheets.pdfFillable PDF, 6 pages, US LetterQuick start, consultation worksheet, fee agreement checklist, bill review steps and an invoice questions log

How it works

  1. Before each consultation, print the question sheet or open the Consult Questions tab.
  2. After each meeting, enter the lawyer's rate, estimated hours, flat fee or percentage in the yellow cells.
  3. Read each draft fee agreement with the 23-point check. Ask about every No or Unclear.
  4. Compare the estimated totals and watch-outs, not the hourly rates.
  5. After hiring, log invoices in the Bill Tracker; it flags rate mismatches and budget overruns.

Who it's for, and who it isn't

Good fit

  • Anyone collecting quotes from two or three lawyers
  • People about to sign a retainer or contingency agreement
  • Small business owners hiring a lawyer for a defined project
  • Clients who want to check invoices against the agreement

Not a fit

  • People looking for legal advice on their case: talk to a lawyer
  • People who qualify for free legal aid (see our legal aid guide)
  • Anyone wanting a prediction of what a case is worth

Compatibility, delivery and support

  • Compatibility: Excel 365, LibreOffice Calc 7+ and Google Sheets (File → Import; sheet protection is not carried over). PDFs are US Letter and fillable in Adobe Acrobat Reader and most browser PDF viewers.
  • Delivery: after Stripe confirms your payment you are taken to your download page. Bookmark it: it works for 12 months, and you can recover access with your checkout email and order code.
  • License: personal use for you, your household or one small business you own. Please don't resell or share the files. Full license and refund policy.
  • Refunds: 14 days, no questions asked: email [email protected].
  • Support: [email protected]. We reply within 2 business days.
  • Privacy: we use your email only to deliver and support your purchase. No mailing list.

What this kit does not do

  • It does not tell you which lawyer to hire or whether a fee is "fair"; it puts quotes on the same basis so you can ask better questions.
  • Totals are only as good as the estimates the lawyers give you.
  • It is not legal advice and does not review your agreement for legal validity.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Excel?

No. The workbook also works in Google Sheets (File → Import) and LibreOffice Calc. The PDF worksheets can be filled in on screen or printed.

Can I compare a contingency quote with an hourly quote?

Yes. Enter an amount you assume might be recovered; the toolkit shows the contingency fee and what you would receive, next to the hourly and flat-fee totals. We do not estimate what your case is worth.

What if I am not happy with it?

Email us within 14 days for a full refund. No questions asked.

Is my information sent anywhere?

No. The files work offline on your device. We never see what you type into them.
